GOLDEN GATE RESIDENCE

A double parlor room and fainting room get transformed into an open living, dining and kichen space! This Victorian had the kitchen in the back of the house with a double parlor room and a fainting room in the front. In fact, the fainting room (a room used during the Victorian era, to make women more comfortable) had the central heating unit is a large portion of it. NBR reconfigured the entire front of the house.

The boxy rooms with limited doors/entryways got new wide, open entrances. The classic 9.5ft pocket doors dividing the Living Room and the second parlor room were repurposed as closet doors in the master bedroom. See the photos in this project of the Victorian doors.
